Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Planetary Phase Calculator?

It is a tool which calculates the phase relationships (and aspects, if you like) between a list of planets found in a basic birth chart.

Just as we commonly track the phases of the Sun and Moon, a bigger picture is available for interpretation, when observing phases between all the planets at a moment in time. The Planetary Phase Calculator will calculate and provide a report of the phases and/or aspects between the planets and angles you enter into this tool.

The report consists of a detailed listing and a bottom-line consolidation of how many aspects fall in each of the 8 phases.

Perhaps you’ll notice your client has an abundance of Last Quarter energy in their birth chart even though they were born at a New Moon, opening another way to understand their story.

What is the Evolutionary Astrology Sort formula?

This EA Sort option is inspired by Jeffrey Wolf Green’s method of interpretation and how he taught Evolutionary Astrology as written in “Pluto The Evolutionary Journey of the Soul.”

  1. Pluto.
  2. Pluto’s Dispositor. Example: Pluto in Virgo’s Dispositor is Mercury.
  3. Lunar South Node.
  4. Planet that rules Lunar South Node’s Sign, if it is not Pluto or Pluto’s Dispositor.
  5. Lunar North Node.
  6. Planet that rules Lunar North Node’s Sign,if it is not Pluto, Pluto’s Dispositor, or South Nodes’ Dispositor.
  7. Rest of Planets.

The results are then sorted by Phase and displayed with the Phase, second planet, and the aspect if applicable.

How are the Nodal phases calculated?

Method: Take the Nodes clockwise from all planets.

Examples:
South Node at 18 degrees in Aquarius.
Mercury at 15 degrees Aquarius.
Jupiter at 14 degrees Aquarius.
Neptune at 13 degrees Scorpio.

Result:
South Node is conjunct both planets with a Balsamic phase. North Node is opposing both planets in a Gibbous phase.
South Node is squared to Neptune with a Disseminating phase. North Node is squared and the phase is Crescent.

This method was  presented at the Evolulutionary Astrology Conference 2005 in Sedona.

If I put in several charts, can I access the first one by typing in the Chart Name that I gave it?

No. You can send the results to an email address. This calculator does not save personal information. Privacy Policy.

Why can’t I find my results in email?

Emails are sent in html format, so they resemble what you see on the website results. Sometimes html emails get caught by email filters. 1. Check your Spam/Junk folder. 2. Adding contact@planetaryphasecalculator in your Address Book, can help if you have troubles receiving the emails from this website.

Do you make money from this website?

I have received some donations and very much appreciate them. As the site begins to have more resources about the value of and how to use phases between more than just the Sun and the Moon, there may be a possibility of earning a bit of money with affiliate links. These are links that go to a shopping website. If someone buys a book, for example, a percentage of the purchase may come to me over time. Here is a general link to Kindle Astrology Books on Amazon.com just for fun.
